Message from the head
As we come to the end of another fantastic half term at Queen’s Park Primary School, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our children, families and staff for their continued hard work, positivity and support.
We have ended the term with a wonderful World Culture Day, with the school full of dancing, singing, cooking and celebration. It was a joyful reminder of the richness, diversity and sense of belonging that makes our school community so special. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success.
Our children continue to make us proud every single day through their enthusiasm, kindness and resilience, and I would also like to thank our dedicated staff team for the care, energy and commitment they bring to school life each day.
Please do take the opportunity over the break to relax, recharge and enjoy some well-deserved rest before we begin what is always the busiest half-term of the year! We have so much to look forward to, including transition activities for new classes and schools for our Year 6 pupils, Sports Day, theatre trips, topic share sessions and many more exciting visits and experiences.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 1st June 2026 refreshed and ready for another brilliant half-term together.
Best wishes,
Emma Gale

Year 6 SATS Week 2026
Last week, Year 6 completed their much-anticipated end of key stage 2 national tests (SATs). Each morning, the school hosted a free SATs breakfast to entice the children into school a little earlier so they could fill up before the tests as well as have some calm time socialising with their friends.

We are delighted to say that the week was a really positive one with all the Y6 children adopting a mature attitude towards the grammar, spelling, reading and maths tests. They all worked extremely hard and applied their skills and knowledge learnt over their time in the whole of KS2.

We are so proud of this cohort for their hard work and excellent approach throughout the week. On the Friday, the children were treated to a well-deserved trip to the park followed by a party back in class with pizzas and snacks while they watch a film.

Music at Queen's Park
This term, music has continued to flourish across Queen’s Park, with pupils developing confidence, creativity and performance skills throughout the school. Teaching has reflected the school’s progression of musical skills, allowing children to build on prior learning in engaging and practical ways.
A particular highlight this term has been the fantastic Year 5 and 6 Samba Band, who performed proudly in the Children’s Parade, showcasing excellent teamwork, rhythm and enthusiasm.
Those who take part in keyboard lessons have had the exciting opportunity to perform in front of the school in a keyboard concert.
In Reception and Key Stage 1, children have enjoyed regular singing, musical exploration and opportunities to perform through continuous provision and class activities. Pupils explored pulse, beat, timbre and melody through practical music-making and creative cross-curricular links.
Across Key Stage 2, children developed their understanding of notation, pitch, dynamics and performance through singing, instrumental work and composition. Pupils explored music from different cultures, performed together using tuned instruments and ukuleles, and used technology such as Chrome Music Lab to experiment with composition and variation.
Throughout the term, music has provided children with valuable opportunities to collaborate, perform and express themselves creatively, with musical achievements celebrated across the school.
