Year 2

What irresistible learning looks like in Year 2

In Year 2, we go on a learning journey through many exciting topics!

In the autumn term, we step back in time and learn all about the Great Fire of London. We get to meet Vlad the rat who teaches us about life in Tudor London. After making a Tudor House, we recreate Pudding Lane in the playground and witness what may have happened during the Great Fire of London. Don’t worry though, we have a visit from the local fire brigade who teach us all about fire safety. Once we have learnt about the geography of Tudor London, we look at maps of the United Kingdom and visit Queen’s Park to create our own local map.

In the spring term, we explore Ghana and learn about its nation’s history, geography and culture.  We taste, design and make delicious Ghanaian food, learn traditional songs and write a captivating travel brochure to celebrate Ghana.

In the summer term, we dive into the Victorian period. We visit the wonderful Preston Manor and discover what life as a servant was like. We experience a day at Victorian school, try printing techniques like William Morris and make Bathing machines.
