Message From The Head
As we fly through another term, I continue to be amazed by the achievements, effort and enthusiasm shown by our children.
A huge congratulations to our Year 5 pupils for their fantastic production 'A Big Green Adventure'. The confidence, talent and teamwork on display was wonderful to see, and I know everyone who watched was incredibly proud of them. It was lovely to be able to take so many children to the theatre to watch it too!
It is also assessment season across the school, and our children have risen brilliantly to the challenge. Our Year 1 pupils have been busy completing their Phonics Screening Check and have achieved the highest scores Queen’s Park has ever seen. They have worked their little socks off and we are delighted that their reading journey is off to such a flying start.
Similarly, our Year 4 pupils have absolutely aced their Multiplication Tables Check. They are true times-table whizzes, and we know that this strong foundation will unlock so much future success in mathematics.
Today, our Year 6 writing was externally moderated by the Local Authority. It was a proud moment to hear comments about the exceptional progress our pupils have made. This reflects not only the hard work of the children but also the dedication and expertise of our staff team.
Our guinea pigs are settling in beautifully and have already become firm favourites with many children. They are certainly adding an extra dimension to our much-loved Hot Chocolate with the Head sessions!
Sport continues to thrive at Queen’s Park. Both our girls' and boys' football teams have represented the school with exceptional sporting values, demonstrating teamwork, resilience and respect throughout. To top it all off, our boys are now Brighton champions, and our girls brought home silver medals in the Brighton Cup. We could not be prouder of them.
There have also been some wonderful learning experiences beyond the classroom. Year 2 enjoyed a visit to Preston Manor, where they stepped back in time and experienced a day in the life of Victorian children. While I suspect most preferred returning to the modern age, they certainly embraced the experience and had great fun bringing history to life.
Meanwhile, Year 6 have begun work on their film-making project. The professionalism, creativity and attention to detail already on display are incredibly impressive, and we have very high hopes for the final film premiere.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend - I hear the sun is going to reappear so enjoy!
Best wishes,
Emma Gale

Year 5 Performance
Year 5 delivered a truly fantastic performance at Brighton College, showcasing their confidence, teamwork and creativity.

Each pupil played their part brilliantly, demonstrating how much effort and practice had gone into preparing for the show.

From expressive acting, enthusiastic singing and fabulous props and stage management, they impressed us all and made it a performance to remember! We are incredibly proud of their achievement and the positive energy they brought to the stage.

There has been lots of exciting learning taking place across Geography and History this year. Our children have continued to develop their curiosity about the world and the people who have shaped it, asking thoughtful questions and making links between their learning and their own experiences.
In Geography, pupils have been exploring a range of places and environments, developing their understanding of how physical and human features shape the world around us. Children have been using maps, photographs and fieldwork skills to investigate their local area and beyond, building their confidence as young geographers. Children across have also enjoyed trips around the local area, giving them valuable opportunities to bring their classroom learning to life.
In History, children have immersed themselves in the past through a range of engaging experiences. Across the school, pupils have taken part in dedicated History Days, including a Victorian Day in Year 2, a Stone Age Day in Year 3 and a Greek Day in Year 4. These memorable experiences helped children deepen their understanding of life in different historical periods while developing their historical enquiry skills.
It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm for Humanities across the school. We are incredibly proud of the curiosity, knowledge and thoughtful discussions our children bring to their learning and look forward to seeing their knowledge continue to grow.

Sports Day!

This week, our Year 4 children took part in the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), a statutory assessment for all Year 4 pupils in England. The purpose of the check is to assess how fluently children can recall their multiplication facts up to 12 × 12, helping to ensure they have the strong foundations needed for future learning in mathematics.
The check is completed online and consists of 25 multiplication questions, with six seconds to answer each one. It is designed to measure quick recall of times table facts rather than problem-solving skills, and it provides schools with valuable information about children's multiplication fluency.
We would like to congratulate all of our children on the fantastic effort they have shown throughout the year in preparing for the MTC. They have worked incredibly hard to develop their times table knowledge and confidence, and we have been so impressed with the determination, resilience and enthusiasm they have demonstrated. During the check, the children showcased their multiplication skills brilliantly and should feel very proud of what they achieved.
It has been wonderful to see the progress the children have made this year. Their commitment to learning their times tables has been evident, and the confidence they showed during the assessment was a fantastic reflection of their hard work and perseverance.
Parents will receive their child's Multiplication Tables Check score in their end-of-year report. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child practise and develop these important mathematical skills throughout the year.
