Message from the Head
As we come to the end of another unforgettable year at Queen’s Park Primary, I want to take a moment to say a huge and heartfelt thank you.
To our incredible children—thank you for making us so proud every single day. You have shown our school values in your words, your actions, and your determination to be your very best. You’ve worked hard, supported each other, and brought plenty of energy and joy to our classrooms this year. A special mention to our house captains who have led the way for their house. I hope you continue to build upon your leadership skills in your next steps.
To our dedicated staff and governors—thank you for your unwavering commitment to our children and to our school. Your drive to keep Queen’s Park moving forward and improving every day is inspiring, and I feel so lucky to work alongside such a passionate and talented team.
To the QPSA—thank you for everything you do to bring our community together. From brilliant events (including the opportunity for a good old dress up!) to tireless fundraising, you’ve created memories our children and families will treasure and made a real difference to the life of our school.
To our families—thank you for your support, encouragement and partnership. Your belief in us means so much, and together, we give our children the strongest possible foundation.
We also say a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 6 children—you have been fantastic role models and we will miss you so much. We know you will go on to do brilliant things, and we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. Do pop back and see us!
I’m very much looking forward to welcoming our new Reception families in September, as they begin their exciting journey with us.
And finally, it’s not goodbye but see you soon to our brilliant Deputy Headteacher, Mr. Roberts —we are so pleased that we’ll continue working together through the TTSA and thank you for everything you’ve brought to Queen’s Park.
Wishing all of our families a relaxing, joyful summer full of laughter, rest and time together. We look forward to seeing you all in September! Remember, children return on Friday 5th September 2025 - we'll be looking forward to it.
Message from Governing Body
What a fantastic year it has been at Queens Park School! With so many activities, achievements, and moments to celebrate, it’s been a challenge just keeping up. We are now well into our school improvement journey, and we couldn’t be prouder of the incredible progress being made.
A huge thank you goes to Mrs Gale and all of the dedicated staff, whose passion and hard work continue to make Queens Park a vibrant, inspiring, and nurturing place for our children and the wider community.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our amazing children. As Governors, we are fortunate to visit the school regularly and witness first-hand their enthusiasm for learning, their kindness towards each other, and the positive atmosphere they help to create every day.
We would also like to say thank you to Mr Roberts for all that he has brought to Queens Park this year. His contribution has made a real impact, and he will certainly be missed.
Wishing all of our pupils, staff, and families a restful and happy summer break. We look forward to another exciting year ahead!

Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of the academic year, we would like to thank you for your continued support in ensuring high standards across all areas of school life, including uniform.
Maintaining our expectations around school uniform is important – it helps foster a sense of belonging, pride, and readiness for learning. We ask that all children continue to attend school in the correct uniform for the remainder of the term. As you begin to prepare for the new academic year in September, we are sharing a reminder of our uniform expectations below:
Uniform Expectations
- Navy blue sweatshirt, cardigan, or jumper (with or without the school logo)
- Plain black trousers, shorts, or skirt (no denim)
- Plain white polo shirt
- Navy blue and white checked summer dress (optional in warmer weather)
- Footwear: black shoes or trainers. A small logo (e.g., a Nike tick) is acceptable, but shoes must be sensible and suitable for active play. No crocs, flip-flops, or backless shoes. Sandals are permitted in summer but must have a back strap and buckle to ensure they are secure and supportive.
PE and Sports Kit Expectations
- Reception must bring their PE kit into school and change before their lesson.
- Years 1 to 6: Children may wear their PE kit to school on their PE days. These days will be communicated to you at the start of each half-term.
PE kit should consist of:
- Plain white t-shirt
- Black jogging bottoms or shorts
- Trainers or plimsolls
Jewellery and accessories expectations:
- Children may wear 1 small stud in one or both ears.
- A simple headband may be worn to keep your child's hair off their face. Headbands with ears or any other additional feature will need to be removed before coming into school.
- Hair longer than shoulder length must be tied up.
- Children can wear a digital or analogue watch to tell the time.
- For safeguarding purposes, please do not send your child in with a smart watch. These are not permitted in school.
For more details, please look on our school website: Uniform - Queen's Park Primary School
Thank you for helping us uphold these expectations. If you have any questions or require support with sourcing uniform, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
Reception's sea life centre visit
As part of receptions 'Under the Sea' topic the children got to visit the Sea Life Centre to find out about different sea creatures.
Y4 Reptylers Visit
Last week Year 4 were visited by Reptylers! We got to hold lots of animals that live in the rainforest including 'Monty' - a 14ft Burmese snake.
We met geckos, a cane toad and a bearded dragon called 'Burrito'! We even got to get close to a tarantula!
Y4 with brighton and hove inclusion support service (BHISS)
At Queen's Park, learning about disabilities and sharing positive stories is really important to us. In July, the Brighton and Hove Inclusion Support Service came into year 4 to teach the children about visual impairment.
The children were involved in a carousel of activities which included, learning how to write their names in braille and using a braille typewriter. They also enjoyed learning about what life is like living with a visual impairment in a Q and A session.'

Y5 are Times Table rock stars
Beetles class had a blast at Donatello's Restaurant celebrating their achievements in the Times Table Rock Stars competition from earlier in the year.
As they finished in the top 3 of all classes in the city-wide competition, they were awarded some prize money to spend how they wished.
They chose to splash it on pizza and pasta. Delicious!

Y5 production - A Big Green Adventure
Year 5's work on the environment since Easter culminated in a production called 'A Big Green Adventure. They performed this at the lovely new theatre at Brighton College in front of the rest of the school as well as their parents. It was just incredible to see the changes in confidence in the children throughout the rehearsals and how they showed resilience and determination to put on a great show for an audience. There was a lot to learn in the script, including 8 new songs, which showed a real level of maturity. Thank you to those Y5 families who did come along to watch, we hope you enjoyed the show as much as we did.

KS1 and KS2 Sports Day
A few weeks ago, QPS took over the lovely green field at the centre of Brighton Coillege's campus for a second year running.
The children had an incredible day of physical activity and supported their houses with passion and fair sportsmanship. The children completed a carousel of activities, including, football dribble, egg and spoon, balancing races, agility exercises and target throwing.
These were followed up by some very competitive relay races, where every child was able to compete in a sprinting race for their house. After thousand of points were won for all 4 houses, the eventual winner of the sports Day cup was Yellow house followed by Green and Red houses, which were tied in second place.
Thank you to all the parents, carers and wider families who came along to watch - the children really appreciate this!

BUSY BEAVERS AFTERSCHOOL CLUB
Last Cooking Session Before Summer:
Chocolate Brownie Fun!
In our final after-school cooking club session before the summer holidays, we ended on a sweet note-literally! The kids rolled up their sleeves and baked delicious chocolate brownies from scratch.
It was a fun and hands-on experience where everyone got involved in measuring ingredients, mixing the batter, and of course-taking turns and working together. The kitchen was filled with laughter, teamwork, and the irresistible smell of chocolate!
We're so proud of how much the children have learned and grown in confidence in the kitchen this term. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to more cooking adventures after the break.
Have a safe and tasty
Many Thanks
Parminder
Taster Sessions for a New Dance Club
Recently, QPS have linked up with a new dance club called 'South East Dance', who have opened a new studio called 'The Dance Space' in Circus St.
We are very fortunate to have been offered some free after-school sessions to those children who signed up quickly. For the last 3 Wednesdays, 13 children from KS2 have been visiting 'The Dance Space' to get a taster of contemporary and modern dance with a qualified dance instructor.
The children have really enjoyed the sessions and we really hope to start up a more permanent dance club in the Autumn term with the help of South-East Dance and their fantastic studio.
