Message from the head
Dear Queen's Park Families,
We've already had a couple of real highlights in the school calendar already this year. The sports awards was such a roaring success that it will become an annual event. It was amazing to celebrate with so many of our families at the AMEX stadium. Mr. Taylor goes to a huge amount of effort to provide all of our children the opportunity to represent our school in sports and his organisation of the awards ceremony was the icing on the cake. As I said on the night, definitely the world's best PE & Sports leader. We hope this will inspire children to take part in extra-curricular activity this year. Have a look at our extra-curriculum clubs offer on Arbor and encourage children to participate.
Our year 6 children have been busy learning all about university as part of the IntoUniversity programme with Sussex University. This programme is designed to ensure that every child knows that university is an option for their future. I have loved listening to them chatter about which university they might attend in the future and what living in halls might be like. Seems like a lifetime away but we know how quickly this comes around!
I am incredibly proud of our new house captains, vice captains and secretaries. They are really shining and setting a fantastic example across our school. They are commanding their house meetings like absolute pros and I am sure I spot a couple of future teachers in there!
Have a great weekend everyone.

Benefits of Extra-curricular activity
Queen's park are proud to offer a range of extra-curricular activities for children to explore their interests in a safe and fun setting.
After school clubs have been proven to help improve children's academic ability and improve social skills as children get the chance to try new things and meet other children and adults outside of the formal classroom setting. Many of our clubs are run by familiar school staff, while others are run be external providers to allow as much variety as possible.
We offer a range of activities from sports including table tennis, football and karate, to Spanish and a brand new art club. There is something on offer on Monday to Thursday, and we are always open to new ideas!
Our current programme can be found on our website:
https://www.queenspark.brighton-hove.sch.uk/our-school/breakfast-club-and-after-school-club
If there's something you'd like to suggest we try in the future please let me know so we can give it a go. Clubs can only run as long as people are using them though, so we keep a close eye on the numbers to ensure we're offering the best value for the school community.
It's been a successful start for our new Art Club

One of our lovely families suggested that it would be great to have some resources to support exploring inclusion with their child so that they can have agreater understanding of others' needs. We loved this idea so thought we'd share it with all of our parents. As you will have seen, one of our new values is inclusivityso this is a great opportunity to share our pride in our amazing differences. You could use the resource to explore any aspect of inclusion that interests your family/you feel your child would benefit from havig a greater understanding of!
I have also put together a lovely book list below if anybody fancies a trip to the library!
Looking After Louis - Lesley Ely and Polly Dunbar
So Devin Wore a Skirt - Shireen Lalji
Pablo and the Noisy Party - Grainne McGuiness
Welcome to our World - Noira Butterfield
