Newsletter Friday 23rd January

message from the head

We've had a great couple of weeks in school. Highlights include our new 'You've been spotted awards.' These awards can be used for different themes. So far, we have been spotting children for demonstrating the school values and then for improvements in handwriting and presentation. Every time a child is 'spotted' they are invited to a team party with various members of the leadership team! Feedback so far from children has included, "This is the best award because it is such a surprise, " and, "it is so exciting because we know that we are noticed for always doing the right thing!"

As you may or may not know, our leadership team conducts learning walks, collects pupil voice and looks at children's books and learning in depth every week. We are thrilled with the progress being made across the school. We are currently focusing on our 'lesson elements' and the corresponding learning behaviours. Our lesson elements are research-based and provide a clear structure to ensure children can learn and achieve well. Children are very much part of this as it is developing their responsibility in their own learning. We have included the lesson elements later in the newsletter, please share them with your child and ask them, "What does that mean for you in class?". Please encourage them and support them to understand the corresponding learning behaviours and how this will help them to become even better learners. Our school council are presenting two symbols every fortnight for children to practice together.

We will be booking more coffee at the gate sessions over the next two weeks and will send out the dates in the next newsletter.

I look forward to seeing you all at the gates!

Best wishes,

Emma Gale
