MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD

As always, there’s been so much to celebrate across the school—our children continue to impress us with their energy, enthusiasm and sense of community.

We were bursting with pride watching our Queen’s Park athletes represent us at Withdean this week. Their sportsmanship, determination and support for one another truly reflected our sporting values. A big well done to every child who took part—you did us proud!

Year 1 had an amazing trip to Lewes Castle today, where they explored history in such an engaging and hands-on way. Staff at the castle commented on their curiosity, brilliant behaviour and thoughtful questions. A huge thank you to the team who made it such a memorable day.

We’ve also loved celebrating Pride Day in school—what a vibrant and meaningful day it’s been. It’s incredibly important to us that every child and every family feels seen, celebrated and included. The joy and colour across the school today was a true reflection of the love and respect that runs through our community.

Looking ahead, we are very excited about our Summer Fair on Saturday 28th June. This is always one of the highlights of our school calendar—a brilliant chance to come together, raise funds and have fun. Please do come along and support the event—we’d love to see as many of you there as possible!

A quick reminder: Sports Day for Years 1 to 6 will take place on Wednesday 25th June, and Reception Sports Day will be held on Thursday 3rd July. We can’t wait to welcome you to cheer on the children!

Thank you for all your continued support. Wishing you a restful, sunny, joy-filled weekend. We’ll see you back in school on Monday.

Celebrating world culture day

Y6 STEM Day at Brighton College

Year 6 spent an amazing morning at Brighton College taking part in some science activities in their biology laboratory. We even wore special lab coats!

We learnt about plants and their environments. Did you know that plants can count and that they are sensitive to touch?

We learnt about chromosomes and DNA and actually saw the DNA of strawberry plants by crushing some strawberries, adding washing up liquid and a liquid called ethanol. We had a fantastic time!

BUSY BEAVERS UPDATE

We had a fantastic week at Busy Beavers After School Club with our special cooking activity on Wednesday.

The children put their creativity and taste buds to work making two tasty treats.

The Children built their own colourful skewers using fresh fruits, they also used sliced bread, tomato paste, cheese, fun toppings, to create their own mini pizza masterpiece.
