Home Learning in Year 2 – Summer Term

Thank you for all of your continued support at home. During the summer term, it would be vey helpful if you could continue to help with the following:

Phonics

Everyday, practise the page that your child has covered in their daily phonics session. A text is sent out every Monday so you know what sound to look at each day.

Reading

Your child will bring home a reading book on the same day every week. Please read it with them as often as possible and send it back into school on the same day the following week.

Writing

If would be very helpful for your child to practise writing at home if possible. They can write about anything! The key things to remember are capital letters, full stops, correct spelling of common words and making sure that it makes sense.

Maths

Please continue to practise counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s. You can also ask them questions like, “What is 5 lots of 2?” or “How many 5s are there in 25?” We have taught the children to use their fingers to count up. Please also practise mental addition and subtraction of small numbers to aid fluency, such as “What is 7 add 2” or “What is 12 take away 3?”

Thank you again for your continued support.
