This week we have introduced the fun new story of ‘The Blackest Hole in Space’. This book has hooked the children as they have delighted in hearing about Charlie and Doggo’s amazing adventures in space.
English has been active with children making up their own actions to remember the story. We call this ‘Talking the Text’. We have created posters of our favourite words from the text to help us with learning the story for our future writing. We have also written about our own planets that we have invented.
In Maths we have been continuing our unit on working with numbers from 1 to 10. This has consisted off correct number formation and recognising the language; one more, one less and the same as both practically and written.
Geography we have learnt the capital cities of the four countries that make up the UK.
In P.E. this term we are concentrating on ball skills and travelling. Thank you for remembering your kits!
In Music we are singing ‘Hey You!’ and playing percussion instruments and in R.E. we are learning about creation stories.
Next week we are certain our marble jars will be filled and are looking forward to celebrating our reward with an activity of the children’s choice. We will let you know if it requires anything from home.
Have a lovely weekend,
The Year 1 Team.
