This week we have been recapping all the sounds that the children have been taught s/a/t/p/i/n/m/d/g/o/c/k/ck/e/u/r/h/b/f/ff/l/ll/ss/j/v/w/z/qu/sh/ch and introducing the new sounds th and ng. Please continue to practise these at home. We have also continued to recap the tricky words to, the, go, no, I, put, is, into, he, she, we, me, be and have introduced you, was and my. Thank you for continuing to work these and the letters and words in the phase 3 phonics books.
This term we start handwriting practise and this week we have begun with the ‘ladder’ formation letters of l, i and t . We are also sending handwriting homework sheets each week for the children and would appreciate your help to ensure these are practised at home. We do not need these returned to school.
This week the children have started the new topic ‘Traditional Stories’. We began with Cinderella, which the children enjoyed; we have discussed storyline, characters, costumes, events, emotions, feelings and so on. The children have helped to create a new role play area and have been writing invitations to the upcoming ‘Cinderella Ball’ we plan to hold next Friday 24th (we would like the children to come into school wearing party clothes, please see additional information with the invitation).
In maths the children have been exploring all of the numberbonds to 5 and learning the relevant mathematical sentences such as 2 + 3 = 5.
We would like to ivite you all to come into the school to have a look at our art work both inside classrooms and also on the display board in the main school, in the corridor, outside of Butterflies classroom.
