This week in Year 5

Over the last few weeks in maths Year 5 have been looking at fractions in multiple ways. We have been converting  mixed numbers and improper fractions; ordering fractions and finding common denominators.
In English we are enjoying the Young City Read “Malamander’ and have been thinking about identity and how we see ourselves. On World Book Day we created some artwork connected to this. We have also been reading with children in Year 1.
We have started out new science topic about Light and Dark. Please ask us what we know- it helps us to embed our learning and we love to share our knowledge with everyone at home!
Last week we were visited by a writer from the National Theatre, Caleb Femi who wanted to pick our brains about how he could end his new play all about Climate Change. Caleb also brought with him the musician Shaun Sky who was interested in finding out what kind of music we listened to. Some of us also got the chance to read through parts of the script- it’s going to be fantastic!
