This week in Year 3

Last week we made the most shocking discovery of our lives! The children played excellent detectives in figuring out who or what had caused havoc in our classrooms. After much deliberation, using the clues around the classroom, we realised that a Romanian Spikeyback Dragon had left its peculiar egg in our care. Sadly, it is being hunted for its previous wings and we have been trusted to look after its unhatched egg.

In English this week, we have started to look at the features of an information text because of our discovery we thought that we should learn about other dragons. We have been creating actions to our ‘Manchester Ridgeback Dragon’ text so that the children can use this to support their own writing next week.

In Maths this week, we have started our new unit of work ‘shape’ by identifying 2D and 3D shapes and naming their property. To finish the week, we made our own 3D shapes using clay.

We were very grateful of all the help and support that our volunteers gave us in making the Dance at the Dome costumes. We will be performing in our school dress rehearsal on Wednesday so the children are now getting very excited as we get closer to our performance date.

Don’t forget this week is Parents Evening so we hope to see you there! Also, on Friday, weather permitting, we will be having our Holi Celebration so please make sure your child wears appropriate old clothing.

Keep dancing!
