Week ending 11/1/19
The children have settled in well after the Christmas break. Last week we had Art week and they produced some really thoughtful creations. Thank you so much to all the parents that helped out.
This we have begun our new topic Cinderella. This is a short topic based on the fairy tale and the children are really enjoying it!
We have been writing invitations to the ball. The children have created their own role play area based on Cinderella, making their own props and decorations.
In Maths we have been focusing on counting to 20 and recognising numbers 11-20. The children have been working hard on their number formation to 10.
We have started Phase 3 phonics and this week we have learnt ‘v, w, j, x’. We have learnt the letter, the sound, the action and the song. You can find the Jolly Phonics songs on Youtube if you would like to practise these with your child.
This week we have also started handwriting. These sessions teach the children the correct formation of the each letter. We focus on hand and arm exercises, and we learn a rhyme that help us remember how to form the letter. We then practice writing in different groups with a TA or Teacher. This week we have learnt
‘l’ ‘t’ ‘i’.
On Friday 18th January we will be having a ‘ball’. Your child can come to school in party clothes. We will send out a reminder text closer to the time.
