Week ending 01/02/19

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week in school it has been maths week. In Reception we have been counting up and back to 20, looking at missing numbers on a number line and learning how to form numbers correctly. We have also used 2 books to teach addition, The Shopping Basket by John Burningham and One is a snail Ten is a crab.

Well done to everyone for dressing as a number.

In Phonics we are continuing to practise the phonemes we learnt last week, these are ‘sh, ch, ng, th’. We are also continuing to practise the high frequency words we have learnt so far. Please continue to support your child with reading and writing these at home.

We have continued with handwriting by introducing ‘Curly Caterpillar Letters, d, g, q’. We teach these in targeted groups and we use a ‘letter patter’ to help the children remember the correct formation.

Please could you check that water bottles are not stored in children’s book bags, as we are losing quite a number of books to water damage? Also please ensure your child has their book bag and reading record in school every day.

Many thanks,

Miss Myatt and Ms Whitehead
