Week ending 08/03/1

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week was book week with World Book Day on Thursday. The children have had a lovely time discovering new books, writing about their favourite books and reading books independently in the book corner. We had a fantastic World Book Day and the children looked amazing!

The book we have been focusing on for book week is Oh No, George! Please ask your child about the story and the work we have been doing. Next week we will continue with The Three Billy Goats Gruff story.

We have also been focusing on reading sentences and matching them to pictures.

In maths we have been looking at two–digit numbers to 20. The children are learning to understand that a teen, including 11 and 12 are made up of a ten and ones (eg. 17 is 1 ten and 7 ones or 10 and 7).

In Phonics we have been continuing with Phase 3, learning the digraphs ow, oi, ur/er You can find the songs on Youtube to sing with your child.

This week in handwriting we have been learning the correct formation of the letters h, b. We have also been practicing all the other letters that we have previously learnt. Please continue to support your child with their learning at home.

Please ensure your child brings a water bottle (as there is no longer milk) and their book bag every day. Remember Fridays is library day, your child will need their book bag and their library book that they are returning.

Many thanks,

Miss Myatt and Ms Whitehead
